Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey Is Coming to The Game Awards 2018

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, a third-person open world survival game from the creator of Assassin’s Creed, will be coming to The Game Awards 2018.

Announced through developer Panache Digital Games’ Twitter account, Ancestors will be returning to the spotlight after being teased at E3 2015, and again during Reboot Develop 2017. The game will “bring players to Explore, Expand and Evolve to advance their clan to the next generation in the harsh, ruthless, yet beautiful land of Africa starting 10 million years ago.” A livestream following the event will provide an extended gameplay session.

Panache was started by Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets after being fired from Ubisoft in 2013. After Ancestors was initially announced, it was described as a non-violent experience. Though it was first announced as an episodic project, last year it was revealed that the game would no longer be episodic in nature.

Late last year, Panache was announced as one of the five studios Take-Two’s new Private Division label would be working with to publish independent titles.

Also announced for The Game Awards 2018 is a performance from acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer, known for his work on The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, various Christopher Nolan films, Call of Duty and much, much more.

The Game Awards 2018 will air on Thursday, December 6 at 5:30pm PT/8:30pm ET (Friday, December 8 at 1:30am UK/12:30pm AET), streamed live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California and viewable here on IGN.
