Half-Life Fan Remake Black Mesa: Xen Gets Its First Trailer

The original Half-Life is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and in doing so, Black Mesa – the fan remake of the first Half-Life – has released a trailer to give a first look at Black Mesa: Xen, the last part of the game.

Black Mesa launched originally in 2012 as a free mod and later became its own paid version on Steam Early Access in 2015. The game was split into two separate parts, with Xen not being part of the mod or full Black Mesa version.

Xen has been in development and now has a release date set sometime in the second quarter of 2019.

“Our goal is to release Xen on Steam in Q2 2019,” Developer Crowbar Collective said in a post on Steam. “This will allow us to finish Xen to a place where the entire product is stable, smooth, and most importantly…fun! We are already happy with the design state of Xen as it stands currently: almost everything is design locked and functioning as intended. We are going to be using the remaining time between now and launch to bring it up to our art and polish standards.”

Black Mesa: Xen consists of mainly new content and will take approximately six hours to complete.
