Overwatch’s Year of the Pig Skins Revealed

Overwatch’s Lunar New Year event returns tomorrow, January 24, and the game’s official Twitter account has shared some of the upcoming Legendary Hero skins.

Reaper, Hanzo, Reinhardt, Torbjörn, and Zenyatta’s Year of the Pig skins have been showcased on Twitter, while we got a closer look at Tracer, Orisa, and Brigitte’s event skins over on the Overwatch Korea YouTube channel.

The theme appears to be mainly focused on figures from Chinese history (mostly generals) that also appear in the historical novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Reaper’s Lü Bu skin was the first to be revealed, and is named after a Chinese general and warlord. The plumes on his helmet mirror those seen in illustrations of the military leader.

Hanzo’s Huang Zhong skin takes its name and inspiration from another Chinese general, and gives him a newly age appropriate flowing white beard.

Reinhardt’s Guan Yu skin – another one named for a Chinese general – is embellished with a dragon-themed shield and hammer. The tweet also mentioned Capture the Flag, so we can expect to see the mode return for this year’s event.

Torbjörn Zhang Fei embodies yet another general, and even his turret got the makeover treatment.

The final Hero’s skin to be shared on Twitter so far is Zenyatta, with his Zhuge Liang skin, named for the Chinese politician and military strategist. His skin is finished off with the addition of a beard and hat.

This year’s festivities kick off tomorrow, January 24, and run up until February 18.
