ROCHESTER, Minn. – Rock Valley College used a five-run sixth inning to rally from a 4-0 deficit and earn its third straight NJCAA DIII national championship with a 5-4 victory over Herkimer County Community College, Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles (49-9) big rally was capped off by Taylor Carlson’s two-out, two-run game-winning single.

RVC is only the second school to win three straight NJCAA Division III softball national championships since the NJCAA moved to three divisions for softball in 1997.
The Golden Eagles swept through the national tournament with a 4-0 record, which started with a 9-0 triumph over Suffolk County Community College in the opening round followed by a 7-0 shutout of Onondaga Community College. RVC reached the title game with a 7-3 victory over Herkimer.
In five seasons, head coach Darin Monroe has led the Golden Eagles to a 205-53 (.795) mark with four straight conference (N4C) championships, four straight trips to the national tournament, and now three consecutive national championships.
