Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth interested in signing Keylor Navas

According to a report from Foot Mercato, two Premier League clubs are interested in acquiring PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas: newly-promoted sides Nottingham Forest and AFC Bournemouth.

Despite having a year and a half remaining on his contract, the 36-year-old has appeared only once this season for Les Parisiens, in a 3-1 Coupe de France win against LB Châteauroux earlier this month. The former Real Madrid shotstopper, with whom he won three UEFA Champions League trophies, is now second to Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma for a place in PSG’s starting 11.

Premier League sides are not the only clubs interested in the Costa Rican international: Cristiano Ronaldo’s new Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr has also expressed its interest. This move would see the two former Los Blancos players reunited as they both approach the twilight years of their careers. Navas’ salary, valued at €12m, has not deterred the Saudi side, though they will face tough competition from both Forest and Bournemouth if they are to attract him to their less competitive league.

Nottingham Forest’s goalkeeper Dean Henderson has provided many impressive individual performances this season in the East Midlands, but he is on loan from Premier League giants Manchester United. Unless a further loan is agreed at the end of the season, Nottingham Forest may be without their star keeper, for whom Navas would represent an exciting and considerable replacement. AFC Bournemouth, recently acquired by Bill Foley’s Black Knight Sports and Entertainment, have employed two goalkeepers in almost equal measure throughout the league this season, but have accrued just four points across the last 10 games. This poor run of form (1W, 1D, 8L) has seen the Cherries concede 21 goals.
