After teaming up with Iconix Brand Group, the company that’s behind brands such as Badgley Mischka and Rocawear, Madonna is launching MDG eyewear together with Dolce&Gabbana. It will be the first personally designed eyewear collection by the Queen of pop. The range features six styles, which are planned to launch for May 2010.
“Designing an eyewear line with Madonna was a new experience for us. The oversized and wraparound designs are sexy and very feminine, like our clothes. Madonna’s creative contribution and unique point of view were key, even in designing the MDG logo,” remarked Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
Madonna herself will be the face of the MDG ad campaign. Shot in New York by Steven Klein, the campaign has a film noir feel to it. He used a video camera to capture the right mood, and the snapshots appear as frames of a short film while the layout of the prints recalls that of an old-fashioned movie film.
