Designer Nicole Miller also shared her sympathies with InStyle, writing the following statement:
I am so sad to hear about Kate Spade. I have known her for a really long time—even though we weren’t close, we were always friendly. I always loved her quirky style. I always loved seeing what vintage piece she would be wearing. I loved the way her hairstyle and accessories were always in sync. She never veered from her style. It was such a strong part of her identity and I never saw her out of character. I used to see Kate and Andy around quite a bit and together they were magical. She and her husband were the most adorable couple and I am really sorry for this to have happened.

Kate was always very vintage, a little bit 1950’s secretary and sometimes ’60s Jackie Kennedy. She always had those little sweaters and her hair was always up. She had the glasses to match. I always love to see what she was wearing. I remember in the winter she always had these great chubbies and jackets. She was petite and cute as a button and she always stood out in a crowd.
Our thoughts are with Kate’s friends and family.
