Adorable Dog Stuck At Shelter For 758 Days Needs A Home

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Scared and alone, a trembling yet absolutely beautiful pooch called K-Dog found himself abandoned in a high-kill shelter in West Virginia. Miraculously, he was rescued from there and transferred to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County where he has morphed into the most amazing dog that any family would be blessed to have, shelter officials say.

But K-Dog has been at the Maryland shelter for 758 days.

Think of that: 758 days.

That’s much too long for a dog to languish in a shelter, even though he is doted upon and clearly loved by the staff and volunteers. They even confess that he’s one of their favorites. But now, it’s time for him to find his “furever” home. Could it be with you?

“K-Dog gets looked over because he’s fine sitting in the back, lying on his bed and watching everyone pass him by. We think he feels that this is now his home. But if people just gave him the chance, they would see what an incredible dog he is. Being here for 758 days has not hurt his spirit at all,” Lindi Johnston, animal caretaker at SPCA of Anne Arundel County, told Patch.

When K-Dog heads out for a walk, he’s exuberant and can’t wait to socialize. He’s loving and friendly, but also loves to lounge around and spend time being a couch potato, too.

“When he went to a foster home after having a bump removed from his foot — and he’s perfectly fine — the foster mom said he was an absolute delight to have,” Johnston told Patch. “K-Dog is so grateful for every little thing he has, especially coming from a high-kill shelter. Now he just needs a home.”

K-Dog is described by the shelter as “a cuddler, a face kisser, an adventurer, a lover.”

“K-Dog has got all the qualities you’d want in a companion. He’s housebroken, has great manners, walks well on a leash,” the shelter posted on its Facebook page. “He’s not asking for much. A place to lay at night. A warm lap to snuggle in. A face to kiss. A family to love. It breaks our hearts to see him so desperately longing for a family and continuing to get overlooked. Can you help us find his forever home? Don’t let another season in the shelter pass him by!”

One Patcher, Rhonda Hottle, told Patch that K-Dog just might be “perfect” for her mom. Let’s hope K-Dog finds his furever home today!
