In an article by Holden Wilen of the Baltimore Business journal, Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. CEO Chris Ripley announced that Ring of Honor is going to run a show at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2019. MSG has long been considered a WWE building. The article states that SBG is in a favorable position with ROH after WWE signed a huge money deal to air Smackdown on Fox.
Although All In in September is an indie show put on by Cody and The Young Bucks, the article frames it as an ROH show even though it is not according to PWTorch sources. Ripley also discussed why ROH hasn’t been brought of Sinclair channels yet and admits the production has gotten better, but it isn’t at the level it needs to be to take it off of SBG syndication. “We have not really brought it off Sinclair because the production quality is not quite there yet,” said Ripley.
Wilen asked Ripley about the possibility of selling ROH and he said he wouldn’t be adverse to it if they got a ridiculous offer. “We are typically buyers, not sellers,” said Ripley. “That said, I would never say no to someone who wants to pay a stupid price.”
PWTorch has reached out to multiple sources for comment on this story and we will have much more on ROH running MSG in 2019 in the future.
