Tessa Blanchard is getting a World Championship shot at Impact Wrestling’s next pay-per-view.
Impact confirmed today that Sami Callihan will defend his World title against Blanchard in the main event of Hard to Kill. The PPV is taking place at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, January 12, 2020.
The match is being promoted as “the first time in professional wrestling that a woman will challenge a man for the top title live on pay-per-view.”
“IMPACT Wrestling has always been a trailblazer in the professional wrestling world, from our Knockouts division to never-before-seen matches like Ultimate X,” Impact executive vice president Scott D’Amore said. “In her short career, Tessa Blanchard has already demonstrated that she is not only one of the best female professional wrestlers in the world, but one of the very best, period. On January 12th, she will get the opportunity to make history when she challenges for the World Championship live on pay-per-view.”
Callihan won the Impact World Championship from Brian Cage in a steel cage match at last month’s television tapings in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
This will be the second PPV that a Callihan vs. Blanchard match has headlined. Callihan defeated Blanchard in the main event of Slammiversary XVII this July, with that show also being held in Dallas.
General admission tickets for Hard to Kill will go on sale on Monday, November 18. Titanium tickets are going on sale next Friday (November 15).
