XFL Talking to ESPN & Fox, Gordon Update, Impact Star Passes Away

It has been nearly a year since Vince McMahon shocked the world by announcing the return of the XFL. McMahon is still planning on bringing the league back in 2020, and while the cities for the first season have been revealed already, there has not been any confirmation on a TV deal yet for the XFL. However, Sports Business Journal now reports that there are McMahon and his Alpha Entertainment company are negotiating with Fox and ESPN to carry the XFL next year. Games would air on ESPN and ABC if the XFL goes with ESPN, or it would air on FS1 and the Fox network if Fox picks up the XFL. For what it’s worth, McMahon already has a relationship with Fox already as SmackDown will be coming to the network in October.
Ring of Honor lost an incredibly talented member of the roster due to an injury not too long ago. It has officially been confirmed Flip Gordon is suffering from an MCL tear at the moment. Gordon received the injury during his match against Tracey Williams at the Honor Reigns Supreme event earlier this month. Unfortunately for Flip, the injury is located in his right knee, which will keep him out of action for a number of weeks. Luckily for Gordon, he will be ready to return to the ring just in time for the huge G1 Supercard event in Madison Square Garden during the weekend of WrestleMania 35 this April. Hopefully, Gordon will be able to make a speedy recovery and resume wrestling even earlier than NJPW and ROH’s joint show in April.

According to PWInsider, a character from the early days of Impact Wrestling has just passed away. Roxanne “Rocksan” Biggerstaff died this week at the age of 40. She was found unresponsive in her home this past Friday and was later moved to a hospital. Although EMTs attempted to revive her, she could not regain oxygen. She was taken off of life support yesterday. Biggerstaff worked as a valet for the Disciples of the New Church stable during her time with Impact. She went by the name Belladonna, and The New Church lasted from 2002-2003. A couple of close friends and pro wrestlers have paid tribute to Biggerstaff since the announcement of her passing, including fellow New Church members James Mitchell and Wolfie D.
“R.I.P Rocksan Biggerstaff,
a.k.a “Belladonna”. She was our valet for Disciples of the New Church
in the early days of NWA-TNA wrestling’s weekly pay per views.
Belladonna took all of the bumps and finishes I weaseled my way out of.
Say hello to the rest of the gang for me, my love.”
Mitchell said on Facebook.
“Woke up this morning to find out that Rocksan Biggerstaff (aka
Belladonna) who was the valet for my TNA faction, Disciples of The New
Church, has passed away. I loved what she added to the group…she
played her character well. Outside of the ring she was a sweetheart. My
condolences to her family.”
Wolfie wrote on his Facebook page.
