CM Punk says he'll be fighting at UFC 225 in Chicago

Though an official announcement has yet to be made, it looks like CM Punk will be returning to the Octagon at UFC 225 in Chicago on June 9th.

While responding to someone on Twitter who asked when we’d see him cry in the UFC again, Punk indicated that he’ll be fighting at UFC 225: “June nine, after I win and lock eyes with my beautiful wife, embrace my coaches and shout out my entire team.”

TMZ Sports also reported that June 9th will be the date for Punk’s second mixed martial arts fight. An opponent hasn’t been named, but the UFC was discussing booking Punk vs. Mike Jackson for Chicago as of last month. Jackson’s only pro fight was in a loss to Mickey Gall in February 2016, which set up Gall as the opponent for Punk’s debut.

Gall submitted Punk with a first-round rear naked choke at UFC 203 in September 2016. Punk has continued to train at Roufusport since then.

UFC 225 will take place at the United Center in Punk’s hometown. Alistair Overeem vs. Curtis Blaydes, Joseph Benavidez vs. Sergio Pettis, and Claudia Gadelha vs. Carla Esparza have already been announced for the show.
