NJPW G1 Special USA Results (07/07): San Francisco, California

New Japan Pro Wrestling presents it’s G1 Special in The USA Event which emanates from the Cow Palace in San Francisco, California, featuring IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega defending his IWGP Heavyweight Title against Cody in the main event and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defending their IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles against Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL & SANADA).
Advertised for tonight’s PPV: IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega defends his IWGP Heavyweight Title against Cody in the main event, IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defends their IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles against Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL & SANADA), IWGP United States Champion “Switchblade” Jay White defends his IWGP United Stated Title against Juice Robinson, IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi defends his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title against Dragon Lee, NEVER Openweight Champion Hirooki Goto defends his NEVER Openweight Title against Jeff Cobb, CHAOS Members Kazuchika Okada & Will Ospreay takes on Los Ingobernables de Japon Members Tetsuya Naito & BUSHI, KUSHIDA & Hiroshi Tanahashi faces Bullet Club Members “The Villain” Marty Scurll & Hangman Page, CHAOS Members Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii takes on Suzuki-gun Members Zack Sabre Jr. & Minoru Suzuki and CHAOS Members SHO, YOH, Rocky Romero, Gedo & YOSHI-HASHI faces Bullet Club Members Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi, Tanga Loa, Tama Tonga & King Haku.
Below are the results from the show:

Bullet Club (Chase Owens, King Haku, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Yujiro Takahashi) vs. Chaos (Gedo, Rocky Romero, SHO, YOH & YOSHI-HASHI): Haku and YOSHI to start. YOSHI gets the best of Haku dropping him to the mat, but Haku nails a running clothesline before tagging in Loa. Romero comes in and tries to out-power Loa, but it doesn’t work out so well until he hits a hurricanrana and a bunch of clotheslines in the corner. Tonga gets in the ring and hits a massive splash in the corner on Romero. Haku with a piledriver on Romero and goes for a cover, but only a two count. Owens is tagged in and pops Romero in the midsection, then continues to work him over. Owens with a backbreaker, then goes for a cover, but only a two count. Takahashi is in there now and hits a low dropkick, then goes for a cover, but only a two count. Romero just can’t seem to tag out. Romero now flips out of two back suplexes, then a double hurricanrana and tags in YOH. SHO gets in there and they hit a few double team moves. Takahashi fights out of it and hits a DDT counter on SHO. Tonga is tagged in and stomps away on SHO. Gedo swings on Tonga and Loa as things break down with everybody getting in their strikes on the other team. Romero with a springboard double dropkick on Tonga and Loa, followed by a suicide dive on Loa. Gedo tries for a cover, but Haku grabs Gedo with the tongan death grip. Tonga drops Gedo with gun stun, cover, and that will do it. Winners: Bullet Club (Chase Owens, King Haku, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Yujiro Takahashi)
Chaos (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano) vs. Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki & Zack Sabre Jr.): Suzuki and Ishii gets us started with endless forearms in the middle of the ring. Suzuki gets the best of Ishii, but gets dropped and he tags out to Sabre Jr. Yano decides it’s his time to join the match. Yano hangs near the ropes to keep away from Sabre, then wants to shake hands. Sabre isn’t sure and ends up yanking Yano’s arm for a moment. Yano gets to the rope and tries for another handshake. Sabre does the same and gets an eye rake. Yano in the ropes again and taunts his opponent. Sabre with a couple european uppercuts and gets take down by the hair. Yano back in the ropes again. Suzuki runs into the ring and boots Ishii off the ring and launches him into the barricade. While Suzuki and Ishii chop each other on the outside, Sabre works over Yano in the ring with a double wristlock. The referee is distracted now and Sabre/Suzuki rotate all over Yano’s body with a bunch of submissions. Sabre knocks Ishii off the apron yet again. Ishii and Suzuki back in there with some massive strikes by Ishii and a couple taunting kicks to the head of Suzuki as he stands back up. Ishii with a slap to the face. Suzuki with a big forearm as the crowd goes dead quiet. Big forearms to Ishii as he falls to the mat. Ishii back up and lands his own set of forearms and slaps. A bunch of slaps on Ishii (who yells back at him). Suzuki goes into a rear naked choke. Snapmare reversal by Ishii and both are down. Sabre and Yano both tag in as Yano removes the turnbuckle. Suzuki grabs the pad and smacks Yano in the face with it. Yano tries for a low blow. Sabre catches it with his legs, twists Yano’s arm, but Ishii is right there with a big lariat. Yano with the pin and gets the 1-2-3. Winners: Chaos (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano)
After the match, Suzuki goes to the crowd and grabs a chair. He brings it to the ring as a young lion tries to keep him back. He’s pushed back towards the ramp. Suzuki with a big chairshot to one of the young lion’s back as he and Sabre head to the back.
Bullet Club (Hangman Page & “The Villain” Marty Scurll) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi & KUSHIDA: Scurll and KUSHIDA kick things off with Scurll using some fancy moves on the mat to get out of KUSHIDA’s hold. Scurll with an octopus hold, bunch of reverses and Scurll does his flying taunt. KUSHIDA waves him off as Page and Tanahashi tag in. Crowd with a solid “Tanahashi” chant. Both tug on each other’s hair. Tanahashi is sent to the corner. Page hits a back elbow followed by a second rope crossbody. KUSHIDA is tagged back in. He goes up top and does Scurll’s taunt and hits a double axle handle. Scurll and Page on the apron. Scurll lands a superkick and Page lands a shooting star press to the floor. Tanahashi tries to walk away from Scurll and Page, but gets whacked on the back and sent into the ring. He tries for a flying hip attack and Scurll/Page just walks out of the way as he flies out to the floor. Tandem offense by Bullet Club. Page goes for the cover, but only gets a two count. KUSHIDA with a nice handspring back elbow, then tags in Tanahashi who hits a flying elbow on Scurll followed by a dropkick to Page to the floor, then a dragon screw on Scurll. Tanahashi with a second rope senton on Scurll, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Scurll tries for the crossface chicken wing, can’t quite lock it in as Tanahashi fights out of it. They trade strikes in the middle of the ring. KUSHIDA is brought back in as he gets hip tossed straight into a dropkick. Page is in there now to clean house, but Tanahashi is also in there with a sling blade. Scurll with a foot stomp on KUSHIDA and tries for the finger snap, but doesn’t get it. KUSHIDA with a nice transition into the hoverboard lock. Tanahashi with a texas clover leaf on Page who climbs to the floor. Tanahashi tries for a crossbody to the floor, but misses. Page with a shotgun lariat from the apron. KUSHIDA with a big kick to Page’s leg, but Page with ends up planting KUSHIDA with a rite of passage, then goes for a cover, and gets the win. Winners: Bullet Club (Hangman Page & “The Villain” Marty Scurll)

Hirooki Goto (c) vs. Jeff Cobb: The NEVER Openweight Title is on the line in this one. Cobb with a shoulder tackle on Goto that sends him to the corner. Cobb hits a belly-to-belly suplex on Goto. Goto boots Cobb in the face, then heads up to the top rope, but Cobb catches his foot and sends him crashing to the mat. Back and forth chops by both wrestlers. Goto to the rope, gets Cobb to come to him and Cobb goes out to the floor. Goto with a crossbody on Cobb down to the floor. Back in the ring, Goto continues to keep Cobb grounded, then goes for the cover, but only gets a two count. Cobb finally fights back and nails a dropkick followed by some chops and some forearms, then a running european uppercut followed by a spinning back suplex, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Cobb tries for a standing moonsault, but nobody home. Goto hits Cobb with a spinning heel kick in the corner followed by a side suplex, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Cobb with big lariat followed by a standing moonsault, then goes for a cover, and gets a close three count. Cobb tries for another suplex, but Goto reverses it into a sleeper hold. Cobb shrugs him off, then hits a discuss lariat followed by a headbutt, then an Ushigoroshi, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Back and forth struggle. Goto hits Cobb with his GTR finisher and gets the 1-2-3. Winner & Still The NEVER Openweight Champion: Hirooki Goto
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (c) vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL & SANADA): The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles are on the line in this one. SANADA and Nick kicks things off. The crowd is very much in The Bucks’ corner. Both guys knocks each other’s partners off the apron. SANADA looking for skull end early, but doesn’t get it. Everyone tries for a drop, but everyone misses. Scorpion deathlock and everyone is intertwined with each other. Bucks work together on SANADA as a “Young Bucks!” chant rings out. Nick is popped up to SANADA, and gets dropped. EVIL kicks Matt in the backside. SANADA and Nick in the ring now. Bit of a miscue as SANADA charges in. Paradise lock on Nick. SANADA with a low dropkick and tags in EVIL. EVIL stretches Nick out. Nick tries to reverse out of it and does so with a kick. Nick crawls to his partner, but SANADA yanks Matt off the apron to a chorus of boos. EVIL throws Nick into the corner, he dips out to the floor and yanks SANADA off the apron as some payback. Matt is tagged in, ducks a double clothesline and hits one of his own. Matt on the apron as he hits a cutter on SANADA to the floor. Back in the ring, Matt goes for a scorpion deathlock, but EVIL gets to the rope. Matt sells a slight back injury. Nick with a knee from the apron to drop SANADA, but misses. SANADA goes for one of his own and goes into a skull end, but Matt with a dropkick to stop that. Double superkick on EVIL in the ring. SANADA with a double missile dropkick and everybody is down. Skull End attempted, but Matt tries to flip out of it by running up the turnbuckle. SANADA tries again for skull end, but drops him and goes for a moonsault, but gets denied. 
Matt with a DDT on the apron. Nick goes up top and hits a 450 splash. Matt goes for the cover, but only gets a two count. Nick with a front flip on SANADA and then heads to the outside with a twisting senton to take out EVIL. SANADA is stuck in the middle of the ring as Matt holds in the scorpion deathlock. SANADA is finally able to get to the ropes. More bang for your buck attempt, but that didn’t work out at all. SANADA gets to EVIL. EVIL hits a suplex on Nick and Matt. Nick with some back elbows, and another suplex hits hard. EVIL with a clothesline, then hits darkness falls, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. EVIL and SANADA hit magic killer, then goes for a cover, but Matt breaks it up and takes SANADA to the floor. Nick and Matt go for double superkick and kill the referee. EVIL hits a double clothesline. EVIL brings in a chair, but ends up eating it with a superkick to the mug. The bucks attempts a meltzer driver, but doesn’t get it. Matt Jackson is hit with a piledriver to a chair, but Nick breaks up a pin attempt. Magic killer hits on Matt, and he kicks out. Crowd with a “This is awesome!” chant. SANADA takes out Nick on the floor. Matt with a superkick on EVIL. Nick back in the ring. Double superkicks in midair to SANADA. Meltzer driver lands and that will do it. Winners & Still The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)

Chaos (Kazuchika Okada & Will Ospreay) vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI & Tetsuya Naito): Okada and Naito start with some stalling on Naito’s end. Naito into the ropes as Okada looks for a clean break. Naito goes for a chop, and pats him lightly on the chest. Naito kicks him, then throws him to the floor and looks to fly but does his tranquilo taunt in the middle of the ring. Ospreay and BUSHI gets tagged in. Naito with a low dropkick on Ospreay, and then on Okada. BUSHI yanks on the nose of Ospreay while Naito works on Okada out on the floor. Naito drops Ospreay in the corner, then hits a nice slingshot dropkick. Naito taunts and spits towards Okada. BUSHI takes his shirt off and just chokes Ospreay. BUSHI with a neckbreaker, then goes for a cover, and the referee says no because of the shirt usage. Naito is tagged in. He hits a couple of light kicks to Ospreay. Ospreay with some forearms. Naito with a feint punch followed by a kick to the gut. Ospreay gets tossed to the corner and ends up on the apron. Ospreay springboards back in, then flips off Naito’s chest, and lands an enziguri. Ospreay reaches out for Okada, then hits some forearms on Naito and BUSHI. BUSHI is back in the ring. Okada with a flapjack off of BUSHI onto Naito. Okada with a kip-up, then slams Naito to the mat. Okada goes up top and lands a high crossbody, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. 
Naito with a low dropkick to the back of Okada, then hits an enziguri. Okada tries for a dropkick, but nobody home. Naito with a flying forearm. Naito goes for destino, but Okada catches him and looks for a piledriver, but doesn’t get it. Naito with a Tornado DDT off the ropes, but Okada catches him and hits a neckbreaker over the knee. BUSHI and Ospreay are in there now with back and forth strikes. Ospreay with a hook kick. BUSHI is in the corner as he goes for a knee followed by a missile dropkick off the top rope. BUSHI hits double knees in the corner followed by a swinging neckbreaker, then goes for a cover, but Okada breaks that up. BUSHI hits a codebreaker, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. BUSHI to the top rope. Ospreay with a kick to the head. Naito is in there now. Okada looks for rainmaker and hits his signature dropkick. Both he and Naito end up out on the floor. In the ring, BUSHI with a missed enziguri, but nails a heel kick. Spanish fly by Ospreay followed by a spinning kick to the back of the head, then hits a storm breaker and gets the 1-2-3. Winners: Chaos (Kazuchika Okada & Will Ospreay)
Hiromu Takahashi (c) vs. Dragon Lee: The IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title is on the line in this one. Lee with a hurricanrana that flips Takahashi to the floor. Lee hits a suicide dive on Takahashi that sends him into the barricade. Back in the ring, Lee hits an outside-inside dropkick and mocks Naito’s taunt that gets some solid boos from the crowd. Takahashi with a hurricanrana, but Lee flips and lands on his feet. Insanity is already ensuing between these two. Lee out on the floor and Takahashi just basically sits down on Lee from the top rope to the floor. Both on the apron now, back and forth strikes from both wrestlers. Takahashi sits Lee up on the top rope. Both are swinging on each other and Lee nails a headbutt on Takahashi. Lee nails Takahashi with a double stomp and both wrestlers crashes down to the floor. Takahashi recovers and hits a sunset flip powerbomb on Lee to the floor. The referee starts his count and both guys get back in at 19. Takahashi catches Lee and hits him with a wheelbarrow suplex. Lee with a snap suplex. Takahashi hits one of his own. Lee hits another. Takahashi hits another. Lee again with another. These two are going nuts. Takahashi with another release suplex. Lee with one more suplex. One more for Lee and another for Takahashi, and reverse frankensteiner by Takahashi. Clotheslines by both wrestlers and both guys are finally down. Crowd is on their feet and clapping for these two.
Slaps to the chest over and over. Takahashi asks for one and gets blasted in the chest. Chops over and over and nobody is letting up. Now they are smacking each other in the face. Kicks and knees are blocked. Lee with a knee to the mug and Takahashi with a belly-to-belly overhead throw into the corner. Lee with a spanish fly, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Lee tries to powerbomb out of a triangle choke, but doesn’t get it. Lee lifts again and hits a release dragon driver right on Takahashi’s head. Lee with a sit-out powerbomb, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Takahashi with a fantastic counter of a powerbomb into a yoshi tonic, then hits his time-bomb finisher and that will do it. Winner & Still The IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion: Hiromu Takahashi
We are informed before the next match that if Juice Robinson uses the cast on his broken left hand as a weapon then it will counted as a disqualification.
Jay White (c) vs. Juice Robinson: The IWGP United States Title is on the line in this one. The crowd is very much in Robinson’s corner as the two spill out to the floor. Robinson up on the apron and hits a flipping cannonball to the floor. Robinson sends White into the barricade and throws him through another and the piece goes toppling over. They do make it back into the ring. A lot of punches by Robinson with the crowd yelling “Juice!” White with a suplex that sends Robinson out to the floor. White then returns the favor and sends Robinson crashing through the barricade and they continue to fall apart and one more time. Back in the ring, White works on Robinson’s broken hand and stomps on it. Crowd is booing hard now and starts up a “F— you, Switchblade!” chant. White plays into it and gets up on the top rope, yelling at the crowd. Side suplex by White and goes for a leg grapevine with a face-lock. White gets Robinson tangled up in the ropes and hits a bunch of chops and a european uppercut. The crowd is really booing White as he does Juice’s taunt with the left hand. He pops Robinson over and over, but Robinson hits a chop and they go back and forth. Robinson with some shots in the corner, but White with a german suplex with the bridge, but only gets a two count. White cranks on Robinson’s broken hand, and he gets to the rope for a break. Out on the floor, White hits another suplex on the barricade, which sends Robinson into the announce table and knocks JR to the floor. Josh gets up and says “You f—– up now” and goes after White. The Crowd is going nuts as White moves away from Barnett. The announce team get themselves back in order as White tries to smack Robinson’s broken hand with a chair, misses and jacks up his own hand.
Both continue fighting out on the floor. Robinson and White end up on the apron. Robinson hits a flatliner to White on the apron. Side russian leg sweep from the apron to the floor by Robinson. Both take almost to 19 to get back into the ring. Robinson sits White up on the top rope, looks for a superplex and hits it, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. White drops Robinson and goes for a Bladerunner, but doesn’t get it. Bladerunner attempt again, but still doesn’t get it. Robinson is pushed towards the referee and White hits him with a low blow, but the referee doesn’t see it. White into the referee now. White with a left hand punch with the cast. Robinson hits pulp friction, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Another Bladerunner attempt, but Robinson goes with the momentum and stacks White up for the 1-2-3 and we have a new champion. Winner & New IWGP United States Champion: Juice Robinson
Kenny Omega (c) vs. Cody: The IWGP Heavyweight Title is on the line in this one. Feeling out process between the two. Rhodes being a little grimy in the early parts of this match. Shoulder block on Omega by Cody. Both wrestlers with a couple of reversals. Omega with a big chop to Cody’s chest followed by a suplex. Cody lands on his feet and punches Omega out of the ring. Cody follows and continues to beat on Omega. Back in the ring, both wrestlers with chops to each other in the corner. The crowd is more in support of Kenny, but Cody has a solid group of fans in the crowd as well. Cody gets dropped to the mat and heads out to the floor as Brandi talks with him. Omega looks to fly and Cody pulls his wife in front of him. Omega boots Cody as he tries to get in the ring. Omega goes for a dive, but misses. Cody hits a step-up crossbody. The Young Bucks tell Cody to get back in the ring. Cody takes off the belt and tosses it to Matt Jackson. Omega gets sent into the barricade. Omega with a boot to the face and sends Cody into a table. Omega leaps on the barricade and hits a double stomp through the table. Omega brings out another table and sets it up on the floor. The Young Bucks tries to get Kenny to bring Cody back in the ring. Cody is put on the table. Kenny looks to fly, but Cody moves away from the table. Kenny jumps down and Cody shoves the table into his midsection. Both wrestlers finally get back into the ring.
Cody works on Omega. Cody rolls and does some push-ups to some boos from the crowd. Omega with a frankensteiner that sends Cody out to the floor. Cody flips a table away. Omega with a high flip over the top rope, taking out Cody. Back in the ring, Omega with a cross-legged neckbreaker and goes for a v-trigger, but doesn’t get it. Omega goes for another one and this time he hits it to the back of Cody’s head. He Hits another one to the face of Cody. Omega hits a snap dragon suplex on Cody, and Cody hits one of his own. Back and forth shots in the middle of the ring. Cody with a figure-four. Both start punching and slapping each other in this position until Omega can reverse it on Cody. Omega brings out a ladder. Cody grabs a chair. The Bucks are so bothered by what’s going on. Red Shoes takes away the chair. Cody slams Omega down on the ladder. Brandi comes around and kicks Omega in the back while Cody sets up the ladder, which is sticking out from under the bottom rope. Cody throws Omega down chest first on it. Omega gets thrown into a barricade, which crashes down on the announcer’s leg. Cody sets the table back up, gets in the ring and sets the ladder up in the ring. The Bucks tries to stop this. Cody shoves Matt, who gets in his face as he climbs up the ladder. Omega is climbing now with The Bucks close by.
Both men are fighting near the top of the ladder and Cody ends up hitting a superplex on Omega down to the ring, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Cody stumbles out of the ring and heads over to the title, then brings it into the ring. Red Shoes tries to stop him. Omega with a reverse frankensteiner. Omega nearly gets shoved into Red Shoes. Omega tosses Red Shoes aside as Cody hits a disaster kick. Cody grabs the title again and this time Red Shoes is on the floor. Cody hesitates to smack Omega, then hits him with cross rhodes, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Omega hits a V-trigger, not once, but twice, then goes for a one winged angel, but doesn’t get it. Omega now kicks Cody to the back of his head. Cody falls into the corner. Omega now hits a V-trigger into Cody’s back followed by a powerbomb, then goes for a cover, not even a two count. V-trigger lands again and again, Cody blocks one, but gets hit again and again. Omega goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Omega tries another powerbomb, but ends up tossing Cody out to the floor on the table, which doesn’t break. Omega goes out and decides to bring Cody into the ring instead of having the count-out win. Omega looks for the V-trigger once again, but Brandi climbs in front of Cody to stop Omega. Red Shoes tells her to get down. Omega looks for the V-trigger and Cody hits him with a lariat as he charged in. Back and forth strikes. Omega finally hits the one winged angel and retains the title. Winner & Still The IWGP Heavyweight Champion & The Leader Of The Bullet Club: Kenny Omega
After the match, The Young Bucks and Brandi check on both wrestlers. Omega helps Cody up. Cody heads out of the ring, looks at the ring for a moment and continues to walk to the back. Omega gets on the mic and says “This is my first title defense as IWGP Heavyweight Champion.” He was happy to do it in front of these fans. Omega then says that everyone deserves a second chance, even Cody. He continues to say that no matter who the person is, we should stand behind good people and he will continue to give his very best. He thanks everyone for coming tonight and does his usual sign off.
The show seems to be over but King Haku, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa make their way down to the ring. Things initially seem to be fine, but the three attack Kenny and The Young Bucks from behind. They beat up all three guys in the ring and while wearing “Fire Squad” shirts. Adam Page runs out and gets dropped. Marty Scurll tries to help out and doesn’t do much better. Tama yells “You did this!” at Kenny Omega. Loa now attacks Takahashi and Owens. Tama brings in a chair and swings away on a couple of people. Cody stumbles out from the back. Tama hands him a chair. Cody then smacks Tanga and Loa, but Haku stops him. They end up dropping Cody now. After the trio leaves, Cody helps Omega up and it looks like things are better between the two of them as the group gathers together. The show comes to a close.
