A.J. Styles Not First Pick To Face Balor At TLC

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the original idea to replace Bray Wyatt at the TLC event was not A, J. Styles but Chris Jericho. However, Jericho was unable to make the appearance as he is still on tour with his band Fozzy and wouldn’t have made the show. The reports do not say if anyone actually contacted Jericho or if the idea was just thrown out there. Jericho himself would be the one to confirm that.
Other reports also have said there was an idea to do a Bullet Club reunion with Balor, Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows at the event before Vince himself shot down the idea. While some of this may just be fanciful thinking, it seemed like the scramble once Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns were taken out of the picture left the writers and Vince pitching all kinds of ideas to fill the void in the show.
The different reports behind the chaos of TLC and the health issues also say that Styles was with the WWE in Chile at the time and had to take a very long flight back to the United States to be part of the TLC event. Either way, it sounds like Styles had to scramble a bit when it was found that Wyatt would not be able to make the TLC show.
