Tonight Impact Wrestling is going to be holding the annual Slammiversary pay-per-view from the Impact Zone in Orlando. The show is going to celebrate fifteen years of the company being in business, and it will feature many title unification matches for the Impact titles and Global Force Wrestling titles. Per PWInsider, it appears that the company may be getting a new set of title belts for their wrestlers tonight. The plan may be to unveil those new championship titles during tonight’s broadcast. Will the company be unveiling some brand new title belts during the show? We’ll have to wait and find out later tonight during Slammiversary XV.
Impact Wrestling has been using title belts with the old TNA initials for the last few years. This is strange when you consider that even the Impact Wrestling name was retired this week. The company is going to be rebranded as Global Force Wrestling starting with tonight’s show, so the new championship titles are probably going to reflect the new company name. Alberto El Patron will face Lashley in a World Title unification match, Sienna and Rosemary will fight in a Women’s Title unification match tonight, and Laredo Kid & Garza Jr., Naomichi Marufuji & Taiji Ishimori, Drago & El Hijo del Fantasma, and LAX will all fight each other in a Tag Team Title unification match on the pay-per-view.
Speaking of championships, it appears that Smackdown star Naomi may have made a special personal touch to her Smackdown Women’s Championship. The champion appeared at a live event in Odessa, Texas with LED lights added onto her title. The new championship title matches her “glow” entrance, but it has not yet appeared on television. Naomi is going to be facing Smackdown star Lana in a rematch with her championship on the line. The new additions to the belt could mean that Naomi won’t be dropping the title soon, although it is possible that it could be restored to normal if the company decides to remove the new LED Lights.
Meanwhile, Naomi had LED lights on her championship belt, which I don’t believe we’ve seen on TV before. pic.twitter.com/JsfwARhIpw
