New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has hired two fundraisers from Florida, the New York Post reported, describing it as a “sign” that the Democrat is angling for a presidential bid.

“Hiring out-of-state fundraising staff, particularly in a battleground state, opens up money spigots beyond what would normally be available and is a key first step to laying the groundwork for a run,” a Democratic source told the Post.

Cuomo, who has been governor of New York since 2011, criticized President Trump for his first executive order, which imposed a 90-day ban on nationals from seven Muslim-majority countries entering the United States.
Cuomo at the time directed state officials to help individuals detained at airports during the fallout from the order’s implementation.
