Oscar De La Hoya has released his first public statement since news broke that he rejected the offer by World Wrestling Entertainment to appear at WrestleMania XXIV with Floyd Mayweather.
“I don’t want to get involved with (pro wrestling), I’m a fighter. My business is boxing. I know boxing. I don’t know wrestling. I’m not a wrestler. I’ve never trained to be a wrestler. So I’m not going to go out there and think that I can wrestle. It was never in my plans.”
De La Hoya and Mayweather will fight again this September in Las Vegas. Their first fight on May 5, 2007 was by far the best-selling Pay-Per-View event in history with over 2.4 million buys.
