WrestleMania 37 night one will officially be headlined by a historic main event.
WWE has announced that Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship will main event WrestleMania 37 night one this Saturday. Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship will open the night one card.
Banks vs. Belair will be the second women’s main event in WrestleMania history. Banks and Belair will also be the first Black women to headline WrestleMania.
Belair got the WrestleMania title shot by winning this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match. Banks has been SmackDown Women’s Champion since October of last year.
In a piece published by The Undefeated before today’s announcement was made, Banks thanked the Black women in pro wrestling who came before her and helped her and Belair reach this point. “I hope it just means to them that their hard work and efforts didn’t get unnoticed,” Banks said through tears. “It’s because of everything that they did that I’m here now, and I thank them so much.”

“We’re representation for all the Black women that came before us and laid a foundation and all the groundwork before us,” Belair told The Undefeated. “It’s us physically in the ring, but they are in this match right along with us. So I just want them to know that we’re paying tribute to them, we’re honoring them, we’re representing for them. I want people to know that when they see us, I want them to see them as well. Because without them, this wouldn’t be happening.”
Today is Belair’s 32nd birthday. She tweeted about main eventing WrestleMania: “THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER! This is more than just about ME. This is more than just about US. Grateful. Blessed. We are creating History.”
Night two of WrestleMania 37 this Sunday will be headlined by Roman Reigns defending his Universal Championship against Edge and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match.
Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida is hosting both nights of WrestleMania 37. The events will stream live on Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network everywhere else. Both nights will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time. There will also be pre-shows starting at 7 p.m. Eastern.
