The NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion has responded to controversial comments made by commentator Jim Cornette on this week’s broadcast of NWA Powerrr.
During the show’s opening match between Aldis and veteran hoss Trevor Murdoch, Cornette referred to Murdoch as “the only man I’ve ever known that can strap a bucket of fried chicken to his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia.”
NWA Powerrr is a pre-taped studio show, which means these comments made it past the entire production process of putting together the episode. Fans were understandably upset and voiced their frustrations over the incident on social media, forcing the promotion to temporarily take down the episode from YouTube to edit the segment.

Nick Aldis wrote the following statement on Twitter:
“This is in no way speaking on behalf of the NWA, I am absolutely just speaking for myself: I thought the comment was in poor taste and unnecessary. I totally understand why it caused many to be upset. It was a lack of judgement or sensitivity. I have worked really hard along with many others on this team to make this brand mean something again and this is not how I want the NWA to be trending.”
I'm sorry for the inappropriate remarks and am glad to see they have been promptly edited out. I hope this is the first and last time an episode of #NWAPowerrr is overshadowed by something like this.
