After another successful pay-per-view this Sunday at Bound for Glory, the brand new Impact World Champion Johnny Impact kicked off his title reign with the first of two big television taping events in Queens, New York.
With Austin Aries reportedly leaving the promotion, missing this week’s tapings completely amid a metric ton of controversy and speculation, the newly crowned champion was in need of a worthy opponent to give him his very first challenge.
Johnny Impact’s first title defense will be against none other than Rey Fenix, former Lucha Underground Champion and the brother of Pentagon Jr. The match went down in the main event of Monday’s television taping, and is expected to air on the Nov. 25th edition of Impact Wrestling.
