Two Stars Named Early Mae Young Classic Favorites
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, two likely favorites in this year’s WWE Mae Young Classic are Io Shirai and Toni Storm. The Observer noted that of the talents announced so far for the tournament, only Shirai and Storm are currently under contract to WWE, making them early tournament winner favorites.
Below are the updated names confirmed for this year’s tournament, and we noted moments ago that Jazzy Gabert, who competed in last year’s Classic, has revealed she will not be competing this year:

As noted, former UFC stars Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir are receiving rave reviews for their early work in NXT so far, and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting a source in WWE had the following to say on the Four Horsewomen of UFC in WWE:
“It’s really scary how natural these four women [Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke] are in the ring. Just wait until you see Jess and Marina. All four are tremendous in their own way. Maybe recruiting women MMA fighters is going to be the future of the recruitment process.”
