According to Foot Mercato, Lyon and Rennes have found an agreement for the loan of Karl Toko Ekambi (30). The outlet add that the Rhône outfit have also reached a deal with an unnamed Spanish side.
The 30-year-old is no stranger to La Liga football following an 18-month stint at Villarreal, where he scored 24 goals for El Submarino Amarillo, before he joined Lyon. Toko Ekambi is tied to a contract with Les Gones until 2024.
The Cameroon international has played for OL since 2020, having accrued 32 goals and 15 assists across 92 Ligue 1 games for Les Gones. His time at the club may soon be over. Toko Ekambi wants to leave, and Lyon want to sell. He was roundly booed by his own fans last Saturday when coming off the pitch, and reacted angrily by kicking a trashcan on his way to the dressing room.
This Saturday, Get French Football News reported that Toko Ekambi has agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Rennes and Saudi outfit Al-Shabab.
