Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace are reporting that Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Romain Faivre (24) is being courted by RC Strasbourg. The former U21 French International signed for the Rhône outfit on last year’s January transfer deadline day for an €18m fee from Stade Brestois. Faivre has failed to live up to expectations as neither former Lyon manager Peter Bosz nor incumbent Laurent Blanc seem to greatly rely on him.
The French midfielder has played only ten games this season, registering only one assist. On Wednesday, he was an unused substitute during Lyon’s 0-0 stalemate at Nantes. Faivre looks set to leave the Groupama Stadium side sooner rather than later as head of recruitment Benoît Cheyrou has opened the door for a possible transfer.
According to Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace, relegation-battlers Strasbourg are in the market for an offensive-minded midfielder, as well as a left-back following the imminent €5m departure of mainstay Adrien Thomasson to RC Lens. The Alsatian management are reportedly very keen on bringing Faivre to La Meineau on a loan deal.
