10 Jaw-Dropping Flowers for Your Spring Wedding

If you are getting married in the spring, you’ve hit the flower jackpot! Flowers thrive in the springtime when it’s not too hot or too cold. For all of you delicate babes out there – go crazy, this season’s for you! Spring is all about the softer color palettes and luxe blooms. We’re going to highlight 10 of our favorites for any spring wedding. As a bonus for you overachievers (aka superstars) out there planning to DIY your wedding flowers, you’ll find a DIY rating for each flower to help with your decision making process.

Let’s Spring Into It!

1. Peonies

Peonies are the wedding flowers of the century, and we are totally in love with them. What’s not to adore? They have tons of petals, the best fragrance, and come in lots of colors. We think they’re perfect and the fact that they are only available in late spring and early summer makes them that much more desirable. Plus, you get to call them ‘peens with your fun grandma.

DIY Rating: 3/5 – Peonies are pretty delicate and need extra attention. Make plans to keep them refrigerated and handle them with care. Toss the fruit and veggies inside an airtight container- you don’t want any refrigerator funk messing with your precious blooms.

2. Tulips

We love tulips because they aren’t the typical wedding flower. They are THE  quintessential spring bulb and you must have these in your spring bouquets. Tulips come in almost every color of the rainbow and add fun texture to your designs. Pro Tip: reflex the petals for a totally transformed tulip – it is so fun and unique! Here’s a quick video showing how this is done!

DIY Rating: 4/5 – Tulips are overall easy to work with. The stems can snap easily, so just be sure to pick them up carefully.

3. Ranunculus

Ranunculus come in fun colors and have curvy stems that mimic the fresh feeling of springtime. They are clean, crisp, and a little bit funky. If you love Peonies, you’ll love these too! They look like peonies, but are slightly smaller than roses. Use these in your bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, and anywhere else you can squeeze them in!

DIY Rating: 4.5/5 – Ranunculus need to be wired before using them. DIY brides will need to gather the supplies and set aside time to do this! Here’s a handy video tutorial: How to Wire a Ranunculus. Any gauge of wire works, but we like this wire paddle to make things easy! It goes a long way, so you will only need one.

4. Garden Roses

These are just like the roses we all know and love, only better. Garden Roses are huge and come packed with a fragrance you’d likely find on your favorite celeb. Your grandmother probably had a few of these growing in her garden which only adds to that springtime magic. They’re a total luxury flower and will bring your bouquet game way up!

DIY Rating: 3/5 – While Garden Roses are easy to use, some stems may shatter during the shipping or hydration stage. They’re pretty delicate, so prepare your heart (and flower girl basket) to use some stems for petals alone.

5. Spray Roses

Spray Roses are perfect for spring weddings because you can get them in any color and they have a fresh-from-the-garden feel. They’re super cute and look dainty but can handle a rough hand. They are great for adding texture and visual interest without breaking the bank. Plus, you can use them in any type of arrangment.

DIY Rating: 5/5 – Spray Roses are a breeze! DIY brides love using these because they are hardy and can be included in all arrangement types.

6. Anemones

These delicate little blooms are perfect for your spring wedding! They have thin paperlike petals and unique dark centers that add all the fun to your designs. Anemones are a lot like poppies, only much easier to come by! Due to their hyper-delicate nature, it is always a safe bet to use Silk Anemone. The fresh stems are so far from the norm to begin with that the silk version is a deadringer.

DIY Rating: 2/5 – Anemones are not for the faint of heart. We usually get 6-6 usuable stems out of 10 stem bunch. They are one of the most delicate flowers, but so worth it for those few blooms in your bouquet! DIY brides should be prepared to keep anemones refrigerated. If some blooms don’t make it, pick out the best stems for the bridal bouquet to make it extra special! Silk Anemone will be the Type-A DIY Bride’s bestie.

7. Snapdragon

We love the organic shape of Snapdragons. They have really long stems that can be used lots of different ways. There are plenty of colors to choose from with nice big blooms which make these great for the spring. Fun fact: They are called Snapdragons because when the blooms are squeezed, the “mouth” opens to look like a dragon’s mouth! We aren’t sure if that’s very spring-like, but it’s definitely fun!

DIY Rating: 5/5 – Snapdragons are hardy flowers and can be used in lots of arrangement styles! They take extra care initially, but as long as the DIY bride is careful when prepping them, they’ll have great success!

8. Chamomile

Chamomile is so sweet, dainty, and happy! It’s a great flower to add to bouquets and centerpieces for a light and airy look. It’s wonderfully whimsical just like the spring!

DIY Rating: 3/5 – Chamomile is not hard to work with, but the DIY bride should be prepared to keep chamomile in a cool area and give these little blooms extra attention. Do not not be alarmed if a few stems wilt, just give them fresh water and a little trim!

9. Hydrangea

Hydrangeas are perfect for spring weddings because they love cooler weather with a bit of sunshine. Brides love them because they are fluffy and take up lots of visual space with gorgeous lush blooms. Hydrangea come in pink, white, blue, and green.

DIY Rating: 4/5 – Hydrangea are easy to use and fill in designs quickly. Fear not, they can wilt fast but will bounce back like a tennis ball after a fresh cut and water spritz.

10. Stock

Although Stock doesn’t have the prettiest flower name, it does win the sweetest scent award. Stock comes in pastel colors that are perfect for the spring. They have long stems and large, fluffy blooms. They aren’t great in the hotter months, but they really shine in the springtime!

DIY Rating: 4/5 Stock is another favorite for DIY brides. The shape of stock makes it easy to use in many different ways. Remember to remove any bottom blooms that are aging or damaged.
