DeDomenico, Arst claim Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher, Player of Week honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Rowan University’s Jesse DeDomenico and East Texas Baptist University’s Morgan Arst captured this week’s Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively.

Sophomore right-hander DeDomenico went 4-0 this past week, with just one earned run and 31 strikeouts in 25.2 innings of action. The Hightstown High product collected three complete games and one shutout, while compiling a 0.27 earned-run average. She gave up just 14 hits over four appearances and held opposing batters to an .156 average, while batting .556 herself with five runs scored.

Tigers’ sophomore left fielder Arst, meanwhile, had 13 hits in 15 at-bats (.867 average), scoring 12 times, collecting four walks and a triple. She also caused havoc on the bases with eight steals.  In her team’s three-game American Southwest Conference series against Ozarks, the Marshall High graduate went 9-for-10 with eight runs and seven steals. Arst also was perfect in the field for her five games last week, collecting six putouts.

Franciscan sophomore catcher Kayla Anderson batted .556 (10-for-18) with nine runs, a double, six RBI and three walks. … Finlandia sophomore pitcher Denia Bent was 3-0 with one walk and 12 strikeouts, and tossed her first no-hitter, a perfect game against Maranatha. …  George Fox sophomore outfielder Roni Braun had a team-best eight hits and three homers. … Maryville sophomore third baseman Morgan Brewer was 12-for-22 (.545) with 13 runs, three doubles, eight steals and three RBI. … Maryville freshman second baseman Taylor Campbell hit .600 with six doubles, seven runs, two homers and eight RBI. … Lynchburg sophomore left fielder Sarah Commons was 9-for-13 (.692) with three runs. … Randolph-Macon freshman outfielder Kaitlyn Deeter hit .429 with five runs, six RBI and a three-run homer. … Westminster senior catcher Addie Dieterich batted .667 with three runs, a double and a homer over two games. … Springfield senior first baseman Kirsten Drobiak was 20-for-38 (.526) with 12 runs, five doubles, six homers and 20 RBI. … Franciscan sophomore pitcher Jayln Effertz went 4-1 with four complete games, a 0.75 ERA, and 25 strikeouts in 28 innings. … Linfield senior center fielder Cheyenne Fletcher hit .538 (7-for-13) with nine runs, and two steals. … Rowan junior third baseman Cassandra Gerard was 9-for-17 (.529) with six runs, three doubles, a triple and five RBI. … Endicott junior first baseman Jamie Hopgood hit .577 (15-for-26) with nine runs, six doubles, three homers and 13 RBI. … Berry senior pitcher Kassie Howard had two wins and allowed five hits and one run for the week. … New York University junior center fielder Diana King was 16-for-29 (.552) with six doubles, two triples, nine runs, 13 RBI and eight steals. … Concordia (Wis.) sophomore pitcher Nicole Lewis was 2-0 with an 1.81 ERA, 12 strikeouts and one walk over four outings. …  Texas Lutheran junior utility player Kassie Maddox batted .524 (13-for-24) with nine runs, for doubles and 14 RBI. … Four of George Fox sophomore outfielder Allison Meyer’s five hits were homers, also collecting 11 RBI. … Finlandia sophomore first baseman Emily Nguyen was 12-of-17 (.706) with 13 runs, five doubles, two triples and 13 RBI. … Geneseo junior left fielder Kylie Papagelos hit .667 (15-for-21) with nine runs, six doubles and five RBI. … Wesley junior third baseman Ashley Royer was 14-for-22 (.636) with nine runs, five doubles, a triple and eight RBI. … Linfield junior pitcher Shelby Saylors had two complete-game wins and eight strikeouts over 12 innings. … Wisconsin-River Falls sophomore catcher Noelle Senour batted .453 (24-for-53) with 13 runs, five doubles, six homers and 17 RBI. … Pfeiffer junior shortstop Vada Blue Sherrill had two three-run homers, four runs scored and six RBI in her two games, giving her 12 homers over her last 16 contests. … Maryville freshman pitcher Katlyn Smith went 2-0 with eight hits allowed and 11 strikeouts. … Maryville sophomore left fielder Essence Strambler hit .471 (8-for-17) with six runs, two doubles, two homers, four walks, five steals and 14 RBI. … Utica senior pitcher/utility player Sabrina Stransky hit two grand slams and batted .484 with four doubles, five homers, and 18 RBI. … East Texas Baptist senior pitcher Rocki Tello tossed a five-inning no-hitter, where she had six strikeouts and retired the last 10 batters following a walk, and totaled two shutouts for the week and a 0.82 ERA. … Case Western Reserve senior second baseman Maren Waldner hit .565 (26-for-46) with seven doubles, a triple, 15 runs and 10 RBI. … Maryville sophomore right fielder Christina White was 9-for-18 (.500) with 13 runs, a double, five walks, nine steals and seven RBI. … Berry freshman right fielder Brooke Whittemore hit .833 (5-for-6) with four doubles and six RBI. … Randolph-Macon junior pitcher Candace Whittemore pitched a no-hitter against Norwich, fanning eight, and totaled 23 strikeouts and just 12 hits for 74 batters over three complete games. … Concordia (Wis.) junior shortstop Maddie Zazas hit .500 (10-for-20) with six runs, three doubles, and seven RBI.

Winners are selected by the NFCA Division III Top 25 Committee, which has a representative for each of the eight NCAA regions.
