This Tuesday, January 11th, 2011, Drean Bolívar reinforced its team with the wing spiker, Riley Salmon, 2008 Olympic winne that becomes the third American player to wear the jersey team after the participation of Gabriel Gardner and Mike Diehl.
Riley was born 34 years ago in Texas, USA and after trying baseball, tennis and basketball (fan of the Houston Rockets) he decided to develop his sport career in volleyball. He grew very quickly since 1999 when a talented searching man convinced him to leave his supervisor place at a General Electric shop and start his professional career.
The wing spiker, 1.98 mts tall went to Italy shinning during two seasons with Livorno (A2 league). In the year 2001 he was summon for his national men team following playing at the Greek PAOK and then Russia. Olympiakos hired him in the year 2004 and two years later he played once for the Polish League with Czestochowa jersey. He had already a very high level and in the season 2007/08 he played for the Italian A1 with the team of Andreoli Latina. After playing for a while at Ankara from Turkey he returned to the Italian A1 League – Sisley Treviso.
In the year 2009 he was sanctioned by the FIVB due to a very confused doping event (he took a medicine for high pressure and later was proved that he did not take the medicine to get sport advantage) and after the absolution he moved to Brazil to play for Vivo Minas. In the last time, he played for the USA team of Paul Mitchell (also a short time in Puerto Rico).
With the yersey of the American National Team he won the Gold Olympic Medal in the year 2008, a championship and a third place at the FIVB World League (2008/07), three titles and a continental second place and two gold medals at the 2005/07 American cups in a total of 211 international presentations.
