North moves up to No. 3 in national rankings

EDMOND, Okla. – Augustana’s TJ North continued his climb up the national rankings, moving up a spot in the NCAA Division II Wrestling rankings released Wednesday afternoon. North is joined by Jayd Docken in the individual rankings while the Vikings’ run in the top 20 was short-lived as they fell back into the receiving votes section.

After joining the rankings over a month ago, North checks in at No. 3 in the national 125-pound rankings. At 24-3 on the season, North also sports a perfect 12-0 record against Division II competition, including a decision win over now-No. 4 Alex Johns of Indianapolis.

Docken holds onto his No. 5 spot in the 197-pound rankings aided by his 12-1 record this season. Docken’s only loss of the year came against current fourth-ranked Julian Smith of McKendree. An All-America honoree a year ago, Docken will face second-ranked Carl Broghammer of Upper Iowa on Sunday.

The Vikings moved into the top 20 two weeks ago and are still receiving votes in this week’s poll, but have fallen out of the top 20.

Augustana hits the middle leg of their three-dual road swing to end the season taking on MSU Moorhead tonight at 7 p.m. in Moorhead, Minn.
