INDIANAPOLIS — Three South Dakota State wrestlers are ranked in the first of three NCAA coaches’ panel rankings, as released by the NCAA Thursday afternoon.
Cody Pack is the highest ranked SDSU wrestler, as the returning NCAA qualifier sits at No. 19 in the 157-lb weight class. Redshirt freshman Alex Kocer and junior Joe Brewster both came in at No. 33 at 149 and 165, respectively.
Kocer has won a team-high 20 matches this season, while Pack and Brewster have won 17 and 16 matches, respectively.
The final rankings are one of the tools, along with RPI and winning percentage, are used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2014 NCAA Wrestling Championships, which will take place on March 20-22 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.
SDSU (2-3, 1-0 WWC) hosts Air Force Sunday at 1 p.m. in Frost Arena.
