AEW Dynamite Results (1/22): Chris Jericho Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager At Sea 2

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) returns this evening with this week’s special AEW Dynamite tonight from the Chris Jericho Cruise.

Featured below are results of the show.

AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS (1/22): CHRIS JERICHO CRUISE 2

This week’s taped episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off on the Chris Jericho Sail in Nassau, Bahamas with a look at the unique set followed by the announce team of Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and The Excalibur, who run down some of the matches scheduled for tonight’s show.

After that, we head to the ring for our first match of the evening, which will feature the AEW World Tag-Team Championships on-the-line.

AEW Tag-Team Championships
Hangman Page & Kenny Omega vs. SCU (C)

The familiar theme of Hangman Adam Page plays as he makes his way to the ring as the fans chant his name. We see some highlights of issues between Hangman and his partner, Kenny Omega, as he wraps up his walk to the ring.

From there, Omega’s theme and video plays as The Elite member makes his way to the ring for this championship affair.

Now their opponents, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky — SoCal Uncensored (SCU) — make their way to the ring. Justin Roberts does the formal pre-match introductions for this title contest. Paul Turner will be the referee.

The bell sounds and here we go with our first match of the evening here at AEW Dynamite. The fans break out in “Cowboy Sh*t!” chants that air un-edited as Page and Kazarian kick things off for their respective teams. After being on the receiving end of some early offense from Hangman, Kazarian slows the cowboy down with a side-head lock that he re-applies after Hangman initially breaks free.

Hangman starts fighting back. Both guys hit double-clotheslines on each other back-to-back before Kazarian takes out Hangman with a running lariat. He tags in Scorpio Sky.

Sky comes in and picks up where Kazarian left off, taking it to Hangman. The two push each other back-and-forth before going nose-to-nose. Hangman tags in Kenny Omega following a chant from the fans in Omega’s favor.

After Hangman tags back in, SCU regains the offensive lead in the match. They utilize quick tags to keep fresh guys on Page to keep themselves in control. Omega watches on as the fans try and rally behind the Hangman.

Omega finally makes the hot tag and comes in flying all over the place. Both Omega and Page seem to be working on the same page now, followed each other up with high spots in sequence for multiple near falls.

Things go off the rails when Hangman comes in looking for a big lariat that he accidentally hits Omega with. SCU tries following up on that mistake with a pin, but it wasn’t enough to finish things off. As Hangman and Omega hang on, we head to a mid-match commercial break.

We return from commercial to see Kazarian still in control of Page. Page stops Kaz as he heads to the top rope, however, launching both guys down to the mat. Hangman makes the tag to Omega. Omega and Hangman working together again as a unit, taking it to Kaz with double-team offense. Sky comes in, however he is taken out of the picture. Omega blasts Kaz with a big spot for a near fall.

Sky intercepts a knee strike attempt by Omega, setting up SCU-later from the champions for what they thought was the finish, however Omega managed to kick out before the count of three.

Things get going for Omega and Hangman once again, as they work collectively towards the finish, which sees Hangman blast Kaz with the Buck Shot for the 1-2-3. We have new AEW World Tag-Team Champions in what is essentially the first title change in AEW history here on this week’s AEW Dynamite opener.

After the match, fellow members of The Elite, The Young Bucks — Matt and Nick Jackson — come out to join Hangman Page and Kenny Omega as they celebrate with the titles in the ring and at ringside to a passionate fan base.

They crowd surf to the back as the new champions of the AEW tag-team division to officially end the opening match of the evening here at AEW Dynamite.

Winners and NEW AEW Tag-Team Champions: Hangman Page & Kenny Omega

Priscilla Kelly vs. Dr. Britt Baker

Priscilla Kelly makes her AEW Dynamite debut next here on this week’s show from the Bahamas, as the newcomer makes her way to the ring for our next match of the evening.

Out next is her opponent for tonight’s show, Dr. Britt Baker. Baker makes her way to the ring as the announcers inevitably mention her medical/dental background.

As the bell sounds and the action gets underway, we head to a commercial break. Stay tuned.

We return from the break to see Kelly stomping a mud-hole in Baker and walking it dry in the corner of the ring, Stone Cold style. She continues to dominate the action until a handful of hair from Baker yanks Kelly down to the mat and starts the turning of the offensive tide in the contest.

Baker gets in a brief stint of offense, although it isn’t long before Kelly is running the show once again inside the squared circle. Baker rolls through on a Russian Leg Sweep for a submission attempt. Baker vaults off the bottom rope to get the Lock Jaw sunk in. Kelly taps out.

Winner: Dr. Britt Baker

Tony Schiavone Interviews Dr. Britt Baker … Sort Of

Tony Schiavone heads to the ring to interview the winner of the previous match … sort of.

As he enters the ring to interview Baker, she cuts him off and congratulates him on finally finding a meal ticket, because before this, he was a “sh*tty barista at Starbucks.”

Baker goes on about being the hottest chick on this boat and continues to insult Schiavone as we hear Jim Ross on commentary say we’ve heard enough. He takes us to a commercial break. Stay tuned.

Jurassic Express (Marko Stunt, Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) vs. Inner Circle (Santana, Ortiz & Chris Jericho)

It is time for six-man tag-team action. Out first is the trio of Jurassic Express — the Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt. We see highlights of Jungle Boy lasting ten minutes in the ring with “Le Champion” Chris Jericho from a past AEW Dynamite show.

Out next are their opponents for tonight. First up, the street duo of Proud ‘N’ Powerful — Santana and Ortiz. Immediately following them, to a singing audience of Chris Jericho and Fozzy fans, is “Le Champion” himself. The fans get louder with their singing as Jericho comes out accompanied by Jake Hager and pyro.

The fans chant “Thank You Chris! Thank You Chris” as his music fades. “Le Champion” kicks things off for his team, while Jungle Boy does so for his. The bell sounds and here we go. Jungle Boy blasts Jericho with a nice drop kick. Jericho doesn’t like the lay of the land so he tags out.

The bout heads to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues. We return from the break and get to Jericho and Jungle Boy going at it again. Jericho gains the upper hand and now The Inner Circle are effectively having their way in this one, keeping Jungle Boy isolated in the ring and taking turns beating him down.

Finally, Luchasaurus makes the hot tag and comes in and cleans house. He takes out Jericho and both members of Proud ‘N’ Powerful with shining lizards, instead of shining wizrds. We see shades of Conor McGregor, according to Jim Ross, as Luchasaurus continues to deliver punishment. He goes for a pin attempt on Jericho, but “Le Champion” kicks out.

We see “The Big Hurt” Jake Hager closing in on the ring now. He hops on the apron and he and Luchasaurus start trading blows on the ring entrance way. Marko Stunt tagged himself in first. He hits a 450 Splash on Jericho for a pin attempt, which “Le Champion” manages to avoid staying down for a count of three of. Stunt tries rolling Jericho up a couple more times until Jericho levels him with the Judas Effect. 1-2-3.

Winners: The Inner Circle

MJF vs. Joey Janela

After a video package reminds us of the history between Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Cody Rhodes heading into their stipulations match at AEW Revolution, MJF makes his way out, making Excalibur kiss his ring as he heads to the ring.

As MJF continues to head to the ring, we head to a commercial break. We’re back from the break and we see MJF’s opponent, “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela, making his way to the ring.

Our next match of the evening here at AEW Dynamite is now underway. The announcers talk about MJF being discussed as the potential future of AEW as he and Janela get after it here in the early goings.

The fight spills out to the entrance way. MJF charges at Janela, who back body-drops MJF from the ring entrance way back into the ring. Janela goes up to the top rope for a potential attack, however MJF rolls out of the way. He pulls female referee Aubrey Edwards in front of him as a shield.

Janela pulls her out of the way and goes to attack MJF, however MJF turns the tide on “The Bad Boy.” On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial. When we return from the break, after a distraction from Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian, MJF picks up the win.

Winner: MJF

After The Match: MJF & Cody Promo Segment

Once the match concludes, MJF gets on the mic and starts talking trash about how Cody was right when he said he is just a chapter in a book — his book. He says he was right because he is a chapter in Cody’s book — the last chapter.

MJF goes on until Cody makes his way to the ring. Cody listens to MJF mock him about not being able to touch him. He throws the mic at Cody and kicks it when Cody goes to pick it up. Cody confidently confirms that he cannot touch MJF. He says, but they can. With that said, The Young Bucks emerge and blast MJF with dueling super kicks. Then they throw him into the pool.

Backstage: Tony Schiavone Interviews Hangman Page & Kenny Omega

We return from the break with Tony Schiavone interviewing the new AEW World Tag-Team Champions — Hangman Page and Kenny Omega.

Schiavone talks about PAC wanting another match against Omega. Omega says they will eventually do the match but until then, his newly won AEW tag-titles take precedent.

The Young Bucks walk up to congratulate the new champs until Hangman Page starts acting weird. Schiavone kicks it back to J.R. and The Excalibur at ringside.

No. 1 Contender Match
Jon Moxley vs. PAC

As we get ready for our main event of the evening, we hear the familiar theme of “Le Champion.” The AEW World’s Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho joins the duo of Jim Ross and The Excalibur at ringside for this number one contender match.

With that said, out comes “The Bastard” PAC and his opponent for this evening, Jon Moxley. Our one-on-one number one contender match between PAC and Moxley is up next, featuring “Le Champion” as guest commentator. We head to a commercial break.

We’re back from the break and Jon Moxley begins his walk to the ring through the crowd. Our main event is up next here on AEW Dynamite.

Justin Roberts does the formal pre-match introductions for this our number one contender headline bout of the evening. This gets the big-match atmosphere feel as the significance of the contest continues to get stressed throughout on commentary.

Moxley’s face and eye is still wrapped up after an attempt to take him out of this match was made on last week’s AEW Dynamite. The bell sounds and here we go. The announcers immediately question if Moxley’s vision issues will play a factor in the match. The two cautious here in the early goings. Moxley jumps off to an early offensive advantage with some vicious chops, a release German suplex and some follow-up punishment in the corner.

PAC takes advantage of Moxley’s vision issues now and he takes an early jump into the offensive lead in this one after the initial onslaught from Moxley. PAC continues to go to work on Moxley on the mat now as Jericho gloats about being responsible for Moxley’s vision impairment on commentary.

The fans chant “Your Ship Sucks!” which Jericho points out is because another ship is sailing by the Chris Jericho Cruise. Meanwhile the Moxley-PAC bout spills out to the floor area at ringside. PAC smashes Moxley face-first into the ring apron as we head to a mid-match commercial break.

We’re back from the break and as the announcers inform us, PAC and Moxley have literally fought all over the place during the break — in the crowd, on the balcony, at ringside and now we’re heading back into the ring as the fans chant “Moxley! Moxley!” and we see Jon in control of the offense for the first time in a while.

As the action enters the ring, PAC hits a double dropkick off the top rope. Both guys get to their feet and exchange blows as PAC goes for a kick but instead Moxley turns him inside out with a big slam for a near fall.

PAC hits a big spot on the injured eye of the already hurt eye of Moxley. The two head up to the top rope now as PAC is looking for a superplex. Moxley fights his way free and launches PAC off the top and onto the mat. Moxley comes off looking for a flying elbow smash but PAC catches him coming down with double knees on the arm he had surgery on, as the announcers point out.

As he returns to his feet, PAC goes back to work on Moxley with vicious kicks and then a dropkick to Moxley while he was on all fours for another near fall. “Just give up Moxley, you stupid son of a bitch!” yells an annoyed Jericho on commentary, sick of seeing Moxley continue to find a way to hold on in this number one contender match. Now he brags about beating PAC in Madison Square Garden in the past, before saying he’ll do it again.

PAC goes to the top rope for a big spot, however Moxley catches him coming down with both knees up. PAC smashes onto both knees and Moxley immediately covers him. PAC still kicks out at two. PAC with a release German Suplex now on Moxley and both guys are down. PAC goes to the top rope again, this time looking for the Black Arrow. Moxley moves out of the way just in time. Moxley catches PAC with the Paradigm Shift DDT for the 1-2…PAC kicks out!

The two go out to the floor now as Jericho continues to get more and more frustrated with the level of toughness these two are showing, pointing out that he’s going to have to face one of them. We go to the top rope and a big superplex is followed up by the Brutalizer by PAC. Moxley is stuck in the submission seemingly lifeless now. The referee takes a close look at this one. Moxley shakes his head no and finally find a way out by getting his foot on the ropes. Ref Paul Turner calls for the hold to be broken. The fans chant “Thank you Jesus!”

Now PAC yanks the bandages off of the injured eye of Moxley. He fires away at Moxley’s injured eye with punches now. He walks away and turns around into an inside cradle from Moxley. 1-2-..PAC kicks out. Moxley with a Paradigm Shift DDT. And another. 1-2-3. We have a new number one contender and his name is Jon Moxley. Moxley now moves on to challenge “Le Champion” Chris Jericho for the AEW World’s Heavyweight Championship at AEW Revolution. Jericho gets off commentary now and stares Moxley down from the entrance way.

On that note, J.R. thanks us for joining AEW this week and reminds us to tune in next week when AEW Dynamite is live from Cleveland, Ohio. With that said, this week’s show comes to a close. Thanks for joining us. Follow me on Twitter for additional WWE and AEW coverage @MattBoone1984.
