AEW Dynamite ratings drop against presidential address

Last night’s AEW Dynamite on TNT averaged 889,000 viewers, down 19.5 percent from last week. This is the first time the show has been below 1.1 million viewers since NXT moved off of Wednesday nights.

In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite dropped to 10th on the cable charts with a 0.33 rating, down 10.8 percent from last week.

Joe Biden’s presidential address and coverage of the speech took up seven of the top 10 spots on cable last night. The two non-news shows that beat Dynamite were MTV’s The Challenge: Double Agents reunion special and an NBA game on ESPN.

Dynamite was down from last week across the board, but the biggest losses were in the case of older viewers. That would be expected given the fact that the cable news charts were dominated by the presidential address. The address aired on multiple stations against the second hour of Dynamite.

The 0.33 rating in 18-49 is barely above Dynamite’s 10-week average, most of which occurred during the time that NXT was still airing opposite Dynamite.

Here are a look at the individual demo numbers for Dynamite as compared to last week:

Women 18-49; 0.23 (down eight percent)
Men 18-49: 0.43 (down 14 percent)
People 18-34; 0.16 (down 5.9 percent)
Females 12-34: 0.13 (down 7.1 percent)
Males 12-34: 0.13 (down 13.3 percent)
People 25-54: 0.38 (down 15.6 percent)
People 50+: 0.37 (down 22.9 percent)

As compared to the same week last year, Dynamite was up 28.3 percent in overall viewership. In the individual demos, it was up 22.2 percent in 18-49, up 9.5 percent with women 18-49, up 30.3 percent with males 18-49, up 6.7 percent with people 18-34, up 18.2 percent with females 12-34, even with males 18-34, up 18.8 percent with people 25-54, and up 37 percent with people over 50.
