– The show opens with a graphic of the Las Vegas skyline that simply says “Pray For Vegas”.
– A video package highlights the rivalry between Johnny Impact and Global Champion Eli Drake, with the challenger demanding a shot at the title without any outside interference from the champion’s friends.
– In-Ring Segment –
Eli Drake and Chris Adonis make their way to the ring to a loud chorus of boos from the Impact Zone. The Global Champion claims that tonight is a celebration because he has turned Johnny Impact’s “Slam Town” into a parking lot and built a palace on top of it. He announces that Johnny isn’t in the building tonight, and after the beating he received he’s probably never coming back. Drake then hit a Gravy Train on his suit jacket; shades of the Nature Boy!
Adonis still hasn’t said anything ten minutes into the show, as he’s just standing there being a good little stooge. Drake complains about Jim Cornette doing everything in his power (and then some) to take the title away from him, including sending him to Mexico and Japan. He proclaims that the title will never leave his waist and challenges anyone to prove him wrong. He also invites any ladies with “double D cups” to join him at the hotel later tonight, because he’s requested the night off. Instead the champion has booked Chris Adonis in a match against a random opponent…
CHRIS ADONIS vs. GARZA Jr.
Just to paint you a word picture, Adonis is wrestling in dress shoes, no socks, no shirt, and super tight jeans. Garza does a bit of high-flying at the start but is quickly slowed down with a simple wrist lock, which the former Masterpiece works over while mocking lucha libre. After a few minutes Garza fires back and launches his opponent between the ropes with a nice head-scissors takedown, but crashes and burns with a dive off the top rope to the floor.
– Commercial Break –
Adonis is in full control after the break, working a side headlock like a pro. The champion has blessed us with his presence on commentary. Every time Garza tries to build momentum he’s taken down with a big power move including a spinebuster, a series of short-arm clotheslines, etc. Johnny Impact suddenly appears on the tron, walking backstage, and Eli Drake takes off saying he left his car running in the parking lot. Johnny hit the ring and laid out Adonis from behind, forcing the referee to call for the bell.
Johnny puts the boots to Adonis and even shoves over Garza in his frustration as a heard of referees run out and get between all of them. Jim Cornette runs out and tells them all to stop, calling them idiots for fighting without getting paid for it. That’s a hilarious statement to be made on Impact television of all places. The boss announces it’ll be Johnny vs. Garza next week, with the winner getting a shot at the Global Championship at Bound For Glory. The two go back to brawling, as both Adonis and Drake hit the ring to throw a few punches just for good measure. The champion leaves with his title on his shoulder and a big smile on his face.
– Backstage Segment –
LAX is imploding somewhere backstage, as Konnan starts screaming about their bag of money being empty after his boys lost the tag team titles. They all continue screaming at each other and throwing around everything in sight, before Konnan tells them to get their act together and do what needs to be done.
OVE vs. Trey Miguel & ???
The new champions are fired up as Jake Crist starts things off going right after Trey with a flurry of offense. He flies through the ropes taking out both opponents, and his brother follows up with a springboard moonsault to the floor adding to the wreckage. This doesn’t last long as OVE kills Miguel with a series of double team knee strikes and stiff kicks. ries to save his partner but gets thrown back out to the outside for his trouble. The champions finish things off with a high-low kicking combination on Trey to pick up the win.
Winners: OVE
– In-Ring Segment –
GFW Women’s Champion Sienna makes her way out, flanked by her cousin Kevin Matthews. She says that Bound For Glory is rapidly approaching, and finds it really strange that she doesn’t have an opponent yet. Sienna mockingly says that she’s beaten the entire Knockouts division to a bloody pulp, so she may as well retire and accept her induction into the TNA Hall of Fame.
Gail Kim has heard enough. The legitimate Hall of Famer makes her way down and tells the champion that the women’s division was built on her back, and there’s no way Sienna would have won at Destination X without the help of Taryn Terrell. She demands her shot at the title at Bound For Glory, which brings out Taryn right now queue. She’s out to give everyone a history lesson, reminding everyone that she’s the longest reigning Knockouts Champion in company history.
Allie makes her way out to join the chaos. She’s basically wearing leggings and a purple bra, for some reason. Allie looks like she’s about to cry. She puts over the accolades of everyone else in the ring, and says that she’s been working really, really hard and thinks she deserves another shot at the title.
Karen Jarrett is out next and the champion is about done with everyone coming out and interrupting her. Karen tells Sienna that no one will ever induct her into the Hall of Fame under any circumstances. She announces that the title will be on the line at Bound For Glory, in a fatal four-way match against Gail Kim, Taryn Terrell and Allie!
MATT SYDAL, PETEY WILLIAMS & SONJAY DUTT vs. TREVOR LEE, CALEB KONLEY & ANDREW EVERETT
It’ll be Sonjay Dutt starting things off against Caleb Konley, quickly taking control as his veteran experience comes into play early. Things quickly break down as Team Trevor hits the ring and triple teams Dutt, but Sydal clears the ring and the babyfaces connect with stereo suicide dives to the outside.
– Commercial Break –
Petey Williams is standing on Konley’s head in the corner when we come back, singing “Oh, Canada” because he’s Petey Williams. Some people in the crowd are chanting “we want Andrew”. Everett causes a distraction on the apron antagonizing his opponents, but when Sonjay went after him he got turned inside out by a cheap kick from a sneaky Trevor Lee. Everett finally tags in giving the five people in the crowd who were chanting what they wanted, and throws a beautiful dropkick before tagging back out. The heels keep up pressure on Sonjay for several minutes, alternating in with quick tags and isolating him in their corner.
Eventually Dutt hits an insane tornado DDT kicking off all his opponents to take everyone down, making the hot tag to Petey Williams. He gets a side Russian leg sweep for two, then drops Konley with a hesitation Flatliner. Everett tried to break it up with an excellent springboard moonsault, but he accidentally splashes his partner instead. Sydal hits the ring and connects with running knees and strikes for everyone, then dispatches Everett with a hurricanrana off the top rope. He climbs back up and hits the Shooting Star Press, and the babyfaces are able to score the three-count!
Winners: Matt Sydal, Sonjay Dutt & Petey Williams
After the match Sonjay gets on the mic and talks about how he and Trevor Lee have been battling all year long in various match types, but dares him to the put the title on the line one more time to finish this once and for all. Petey and Sydal both have issues with that plan and demand their own shots at the title.
– Crowd Segment –
Laurel Van Ness is seen driving through the crowd on a motorized scooter. She’s covered in red lipstick. She makes out with a gross old dude in the crowd for some reason, who then gets high-fives from all his buddies. Josh Matthews says that was worth the price of admission, which is hilarious because they literally can’t charge people to attend tapings at the Impact Zone.
– Video Segment –
It’s time to see what happens when Moose pays a visit to the American Top Team facility… The big man pulls up to the training center and barges in, screaming out looking for Bobby Lashley. He shoves the head trainer and gets in a ring with a half dozen guys, and immediately tries to fight all of them. They kick him to the ground and put the boots to him, then start laying in with some god-awful looking “punches” that land nowhere near his actual body. They throw him out of the ring and…that’s all.
ETHAN CARTER III & JAMES STORM vs. TEXANO & EL HIJO DEL FANTASMA
The match is already underway after a commercial break. Texano is swinging away at the Cowboy in the corner with stiff right hands, as the referee has little effect trying to back him off the ropes. EC3 wants the tag but Storm takes too long trying to decide and got blasted from behind as a result, putting the AAA stars right back in control. This time EC3 tags himself in by force, but gets punched in the face as he spends too much time arguing with his partner instead of focusing on the match.
Carter hits a series of vertical suplexes and stops to admire his own work, but Storm tags himself back in to return the favor. He’s quickly double teamed by the lucha stars, once again distracted by animosity with EC3. After several minutes of getting beaten down in the corner Storm breaks free and this time he does the right thing, tagging in his partner. Carter runs wild with flapjacks on both opponents and back-to-back dropkicks. He connects with the TK3 on Texano but it’s only enough to pick up a two-count. A running knee finds its mark but Fantasma is in to break it up, taking a few cheap shots while the referee is distracted by Storm.
Texano slows things down with a rear head lock, driving his knees into the back of his opponent. The AAA stars keep Carter isolated in their corner, alternating in with tags and keeping the pressure on with dropkicks and armdrags, before going back into the rest holds. After several minutes EC3 busts out of the ropes with a desperation clothesline, as both men go down. He looks to make the tag to his partner, but Pagano has come out to the entrance ramp stealing Storm’s attention.
– Commercial Break –
Five minutes later EC3 is still being worked over by quick tags from his opponent. Commentary is plugging a Tyler Perry movie airing on Pop after this show… Fantasma launches off with about two dozens slaps all over Carter, but the former world champion hits a cutter out of nowhere and finally makes the hot tag to the Cowboy. Storm hits the ring to a big pop and lays into Fantasma with wild rights and lefts, a clothesline in the corner and a step-up enzuigiri from the apron. He’s able to take both men out with a strange DDT/neckbreaker combination, but once again Pagano makes his presence known, causing a distraction.
Fantasma is up to the top rope looking to fly, but Storm through Texano into his partner to break free. They set up a Tower of Doom spot in the corner, as EC3 sends all three men crashing back down to earth. Things turn into an all-out brawl as all four men fight to the outside, with Pagano directing traffic. Fantasma flies through the ropes with a suicide dive but Storm dodged out of the way and Texan took the brunt of the move. The Cowboy rolls back into the ring but Pagano yet again causes a distraction throwing EC3 into the ring post (the ref didnt’ see it) and Texano rolled up Storm with his feet on the ropes to steal the match.
Winners: Texano & El Hijo Del Fantasma
– Backstage Segment –
We’re back with LAX who are still screaming at each other. Konnan and Low Ki show up and tell the boys to calm down, saying they have a solution to their problem. Low Ki says they’ve got a Street Fight coming up, but it’s not clear when exactly that’s happening or even who their opponents are. Obviously it’s against OVE for the tag titles, and the smart money is Bound For Glory, but if you’re just tuning into Impact for the first time that segment would have been extremely confusing.
