Calhoun’s (Ga.) Weatherman Named MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Calhoun (Ga.) High School senior Emily Weatherman garners this week’s MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week honor for contests played Oct. 12-18.

Weatherman powered Calhoun to a sweep of Dawson County in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs. She hit .857 (6-for-7) with five extra base hits, three of which were doubles, seven RBI and five runs. Along with the three doubles, she tripled and homered for a 2.000 slugging percentage. In game one, Weatherman (3-for-3) doubled, tripled, knocked in four and scored twice. She continued her tear in game two, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a homer, three RBI and three runs scored as the Lady Jackets advanced to the final 16 of the state tournament.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete’s game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the fall season, with one representative chosen from the participating regions. During the spring campaign, a player from each of five separate high school regions is selected.
