Game of Thrones Teasers Show New Footage

HBO released three new teasers and a poster for Game of Thrones, showing off new footage of the eighth and final season in the process.

Warning: potential (mild) spoilers below.

The promotional teasers are officially called Together, Survival and Aftermath. Together and Survival are both 30-seconds long, and include a collection of shots paired with bits of voiceover. Aftermath is longer at one-minute and shows an abandoned Winterfell, presumably in the aftermath of the White Walker invasion. It’s likely this teaser isn’t fully comprised of footage from the season, and is rather meant as a tonal piece that paints a picture of a lost Winterfell.

The poster, which can be seen below, showcases various main characters buried in the snow, including Jon, Arya, Brienne and even the Night King.

The Together teaser shows various action shots filled with characters that have been on very different sides of many conflicts, including Cersei, Arya, Jon, Tyrion, The Hound and more. It begins with a line from Tyrion, imploring the listener that “We must fight together now. Or die.”

Survival is a bit calmer, but shares some shots with Together, including what appears to be Jamie onboard an Iron Fleet ship filled with soldiers. A voiceover declares “This goes beyond loyalty: this is about survival.”

Aftermath shows an abandoned Winterfell and is stuffed with references to characters and GoT lore, including a shot of Arya’s sword Needle, Jon’s Valyrian steel blade Longclaw, Tyrion’s Hand of the King pin, Bran’s destroyed wheelchair, Jamie’s false hand and more. The Night King can be seen walking out the front gates of Winterfell with this destruction in his wake. Again, this teaser seems to serve as a tonal piece rather than actual footage or evidence that these characters will lose these iconic items, though it does heavily suggest Winterfell will fall to the White Walkers.
