LOUISVILLE, Ky. — California’s Norco remains the No. 1 team in the USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 poll after another unbeaten week.
The (25-0) Cougars won 8-0 at Centennial and edged Roosevelt 1-0 in their two contests. Norco has now outscored its opponents this year 173-23, and has won 36 of its last 37 contests. The lone loss during that stretch was an 1-0 loss to Mater Dei in the CIF Southern Section playoffs to close the 2016 season.
Actually, every team in the first 23 went undefeated last week (South Granville was idle), with No. 13 Westminster Christian (40-2-1) and 14th-ranked Penn (15-0) each winning a poll-best six straight and Oak Park-River Forest (14-0) winning five games over the last seven days. No. 5 Coral Springs Charter (24-1) and No. 6 Los Alamitos (19-3) flipped places this week.
Unbeaten teams Crown Point (11-0) of Indiana, Donovan Catholic (14-0) of New Jersey, Londonderry (5-0) of New Hampshire and Pennsylvania’s Moniteau (12-0) are among five newcomers to the rankings. Scott County (20-2) returns to the Super 25 for the first time in three weeks, while fellow Kentucky school Male (15-2) is the other new addition.
State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to compile the USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25.
