LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Rowan University’s Shilah Snead and repeat winner Allyson Fournier of Tufts University have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Snead, a junior shortstop from Malaga, N.J., hit .600 (12-for-20) last week, with four doubles, two homers, three walks, seven steals in eight attempts and nine runs batted in for the unbeaten (18-0) Profs. Five of the Delsea Regional High graduate’s six games were multi-hit affairs and she was flawless in the field all week, recording 12 assists and seven putouts.
Meanwhile, Fournier, the co-Most Outstanding Player of the 2014 NCAA Championship for two-time reigning titlist Tufts, earned her second straight National Pitcher of the Week honor after fueling the (14-0) Jumbos’ 10-0 week. The senior right-hander from South Windsor, Conn., recorded 19 strikeouts in an eight-inning one-hitter against Washington & Jefferson and fanned 13 in a six-inning one-hitter versus Plymouth State.
She struck out 11 in a three-hitter against Wisconsin-River Falls, 16 in a victory over nationally-ranked Anderson, five in two innings against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and six over four innings against Wellesley. For the week, the East Catholic High product was 5-0 with a 0.20 earned-run average, four complete games, three walks, 11 hits and 70 strikeouts in 34 innings. She is just six away from becoming the 17th player in Division III history to record 1,000 career strikeouts.

She had four complete games and two shutouts. … New York University junior shortstop Kahala Bonsignore was 5-for-8 (.625) with three runs, a double, stolen base and three RBI, as the Violets collected their first two wins in program history. She also played flawless defense with four putouts, eight assists and one double play. … Worcester State sophomore infielder Rachel Cuoto hit .333 (9-for-27) with five doubles and six RBI. … Averett junior shortstop Taylor Dix was 9-for-13 (.692) with four doubles, a homer, three walks and 12 RBI. … Albright freshman right-hander Riley Gerenda went 3-0 for the week with five hits, no runs, one walk and 35 strikeouts over 17 innings. She tossed a one-hit shutout (school-record 14 strikeouts) in her collegiate debut against Southern Vermont and had a pair of two-hitters against Sarah Lawrence (11 strikeouts) and Morrisville (10 strikeouts). … Hamilton junior outfielder Olivia Gozdz batted .517 (15-for-29) with six doubles, a homer, three steals and seven RBI. … Hardin-Simmons sophomore designated player Keagan Jimenez was 9-for-18 (.500) with four multi-hit games. … Arcadia junior outfielder Nicki Larro hit .600 (15-for-25) with four doubles, two triples, three homers, 14 runs and 19 RBI. … East Texas Baptist sophomore first baseman Lacey Lindsay was 4-for-8 (.500) with two doubles, two homers and five RBI in her team’s two wins. … Muskingum junior shortstop Kelly Martin hit .500 (7-for-14) with two doubles, two homers and 11 RBI. … East Texas Baptist graduate student Shelby Parker recorded a win and a save in her team’s two games, allowing six hits, three runs (two earned), four walks and striking out 20 over nine innings.
