Monza upset Macerata, it´s 6th consecutive victory for the team of Berruto Mauro. Trento won tough game in Verona and extends its lead at the top.
ACQUA PARADISO MONZA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3:1
Monza’s winning streak continues. The victim of the day is Macerata, who played well for two sets and a half before letting it go. Gavotto led the team with 22 points.
Dragan Travica (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “We could certainly not take a win for granted, and we trained particularly hard, with a lot of competitive spirit since Tuesday to prepare this game. We really believed we could do it and this win makes us dream now because we get closer to the top teams. Now is not the time to celebrate, however. We have shown our worth, I am very proud, because character is something you acquire day by day, and this is the proof that our sacrifices pay off”.
TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3:0
A brilliant Vibo Valentia team defeated the second team of the league Cuneo. It showed it was still alive and gave its fans a great show. It seemed to be the Vibo that many had seen a few months ago, when the team was winning and convincing.
Vincenzo Simeonov (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “A crucial win for us, which goes to show that this team has what it takes to finish this championship on the up. We believed in our chances right from the start and I think the three points are well deserved”.
PRISMA TARANTO – TRENKWALDER MODENA 1:3
Biribanti’s entry for Dennis at the end of the first set proved key for Modena’s win over Taranto, which was, as usual, capable of the best and the worst. Biribanti MVP.
MARMI LANZA VERONA – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 1:3
Both teams played at an excellent level and with heart. The five thousand supporters recognised that. In the end, the World Champion, Trento, clinched a 3-1 win in Verona. The 32-34 fourth set was a game of its own. Sokolov is the one that turned things around but Juantorena was MVP thanks to his 25 points (4 aces and 4 blocks).
COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA – ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO 3:0
Not much more than a formality for the Italian champs, which beat Pineto in straight sets. Despite being without Meoni and Marshall, the difference of level is too evident. MVP: Vladir Sequeira.
RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA – ANDREOLI LATINA 3:2
The only tie-break on this round was played in Perugia and the host won it, leaving just a point to Latina, although an important one for them in their fight to stay up. Perugia found itself without spiker Savani for two sets, while Latina had to make do without setter Fabroni.
YOGA FORLI – SISLEY TREVISO 0:3
Treviso won 3-0 in Forli on Saturday’s game. Just like against Monza and Perugia, Forli gifted away the first set, in which it was 23-18 and 24-21 up. Ricardo, who was voted MVP, eventually made the difference with his run of serves. More serves meant Forli lost the third set, from Fei this time with two aces at 21 all. Treviso confirms it is going through a good spell, with his mind set on the playoffs.
