Big Update on AJ Styles, Why WWE Confirmed Ambrose’s Departure

After holding the WWE Championship for over a year, AJ Styles lost the title to Daniel Bryan late last year. There have been rumors lately suggesting that Styles and company officials are currently in the midst of negotiations for a new contract. Styles’ current deal with WWE is believed to be expiring in April of this year. With All Elite Wrestling and other promotions making huge offers to sign talent to exclusive deals lately, WWE has reportedly been scrambling to get “The Phenomenal One” to re-sign them. One of Styles’ biggest demands has supposedly been for a contract that will require him to work less dates. In a new update, it appears that a deal between WWE and Styles may have already been reached.
WWE and AJ Styles have likely come to terms on a brand new multi-year contract. According to a report from Wrestling News World, Styles has signed a new contract with the company that will see him stay on the roster “for the foreseeable future.” Exact details regarding AJ’s new contract are unclear at the moment, nor is it known of Styles received his request for a deal with less dates. The report did mention that Styles believes that he and his family are financially set for life at this point, and the former world champion even has a couple of options open outside of wrestling as well. Styles’ WWE future should be confirmed very soon, but if the company has re-signed him, then it is definitely a major win for WWE.
It was reported earlier this week that top Raw Superstar Dean Ambrose is on his way out of WWE. While some may have been quick to dismiss the online reports regarding Ambrose’s WWE future, WWE later confirmed on their official website that Ambrose decided not to sign a new 5-year deal with the company. He will be finishing up with WWE not long after WrestleMania 35 ends in April. According to PWTorch’s Wade Keller, who originally broke the story of Dean’s departure, the company likely put out their own statement on the matter in order to demonstrate that they “own what the truth is.” With a major name like Ambrose set to leave soon, WWE officials likely wanted to take command of the reports before it gets out of control.
