Gopher Alum Logan Storley Signs with Bellator

Logan Storley, who wrapped up his Gopher career in 2015 by becoming the program’s 10th four-time All-American, announced yesterday that he has signed a contract to fight for Bellator MMA. His first fight with Bellator is scheduled for July 14.

Storley has emerged as one of the top young prospects in mixed martial arts since graduating from Minnesota two years ago. Storley has a 5-0 career record fighting (five knockouts) under the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) banner, most recently picking up a win on April 29 in Sioux Falls.

Storley wrestled at Webster (S.D.) High School prior to coming to Minnesota, the same high school as Gopher Wrestling, MMA and WWE legend Brock Lesnar. Storley earned the Junior Hodge Trophy as a six-time state champion at Webster with a career mark of 262-3, making him one of the hottest wrestling prospects in the country when he signed with the Gophers. Storley was immediately inserted into the Minnesota lineup as a true freshman, finishing sixth, fourth, third and fourth at the NCAA tournament during his four seasons in the Maroon and Gold, wrestling all four years at 174 pounds.

It’s expected that Storley’s opponent in his Bellator debut on July 14 will be Kemmyelle Haley. The two will face off at Bellator 181 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla.
