This would mark his first appearance in NJPW since the Manabu Nakanishi retirement event on February 22, one of the last shows prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. In that match, he teamed with Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Bad Luck Fale to defeat David Finlay, Juice Robinson, Togi Makabe, and Tomoaki Honma.

Next week’s NJPW Strong will feature the finals of the NJPW Cup. KENTA and David Finlay advanced to the finals this week, defeating Jeff Cobb and Tama Tonga respectively.

The winner of the tournament will receive the opportunity to challenge for the IWGP United States title. That title is currently held by AEW’s Jon Moxley.
